Nostalgia for school? o.0

If truth be told, it seems that the whole research programme isnt all that hyped up as it sounds. So much that i think it was totally over-rated. Alright, so i did learn more about microbial quorum sensing, but given the amount of free time that we had, the entire programme could have been completed in 2 days, or even less.

Nonetheless, it was an enjoyable experience. I got to play with the lab equipments again (namely the latex gloves), and i like the feel of wearing a lab coat. =D

I am looking forward to school on monday... I cant believe i am saying this, but i miss my classmates.. =x

Research Outreach Programme 2

Reporting "live" from Biopolis, Proteos, 3rd Floor. Its lunch time now and i am feeling very very full.

Oh, and things are finally getting interesting today.

Yesterday's and today's pictures will be posted later when i get home..

Lazy upload. Tmr then upload..

Research Outreach Programme 1

First day of ROP, and thus far, it has been.. Boring.

I slacked and talked with the other people at my bench more than i grew bacteria.
But growing microscopic worms are totally cool. You get to see them wriggle around and tunnel into the LB agar. hahas

Oh what the heck..

I think i am currently having a teenage life crisis.

Why do things have to be so complicated?

Is there any easy way out of this?

口 是 心 非?

I've said it. But have i really meant it?
And if i have, would i be able to commit to it?

Anticipation

I am waiting for next wednesday, where i would be able to skip sch for 3 days go to IMCB to research about how bacteria cells communicate.

I am also waiting for the training for bio olympiad to start, so that i can WIN THAT COMPETITION AND GO TO SOUTH KOREA NEXT YEAR. Muahaha. =D

I solemnly swear that i am up to no good

After 1 semester at JC, i have accumulated an approximately 20cm high with of notes and work. That's probably more than all of secondary school combined. And that is just 1 semester.

No wonder the rainforests are disappearing.. o.0

Human nature

As i was walking past Eastlink mall to get to Tampines Bus Interchange to catch a bus home, I noticed a small congregation of people around the TS Video shop, watching the featured video. That was not an unusual sight for people who pass by that place regularly, but naturally, i felt inclined to find out what was the featured video.

As it turned out, both screens of the shop were showing documented footages of the late pop star, Micheal Jackson. One was playing out the details of Jackson's funeral, while another was showing him in his prime, singing Heal The World.

At that particular moment, a thought popped into my head: Why is it that humans only start to notice things around them after they are gone? Is it human nature which is making us blind to the happenings around us, and only getting miraculously alleviated after its disappearence? Or perhaps it is just our habit to not cherish what we currently have but only lamenting the loss after it is gone?

If Micheal Jackson were still around, i doubt that the crowd outside TS would be half as large when they are screening his performances. Maybe it would be for singers like Jay Chou or Lady GaGa. But for MJ, probably not.

Disgusting subject

After 2 hours of searching, i conclude that not much useful info can be found about Kampung Buangkok for EOM. I feel absolutely disgusted.

Busy

Hectic as it may be, i am starting to love college life. The responsibility of planning an event that involves the whole school, the honour of getting to meet VIPs, the humour (and lack of it) of the lecturers all combine to add colour to this life of mine.

And of course, there are those great people around me whom i call friends. Some are for me to crap with, some are for me to enjoy a quiet moment with, and some are just plain there so that i can appreciate what great people i have around me (dun start bragging now, please).

My life currently hums with vibrancy. So many to do. So little time. But yet, so much to learn and experience in during that process. I may be missing secondary school life, but i probably will get over it and get lost in this brilliant, illustrious college life.

Omg.. what on earth is wrong with me today...

This and That

I have a couple of comments about the Singapore Education system.

But i shall suppress that urge and not voice (or pen, or in anyway, document them) them out.

On a lighter note, i got an E for Bio MYE. That is a freakishly astonishingly incredibly good grade. And if i am correct, i think i saw my name as the 3rd in level for the brief fraction of a second the overall positioning was on screen. And on that list, Kenneth's name was first.

Ok, the guys from 09s303 shall continue to own the cohort in bio.. Muahaha. xD

WHEEE~

I got my first pass in my Mid Years back!! And its my GP ESSAY!!!! OMG!!!! I PASSED MY GP ESSAY!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Ok, sorry. Its just that the pass was unexpected, and especially so since its from GP. But on hindsight, i could have done better if i had not used that patronising tone in my essay (hey, i didnt realise that until i read it just now). Either way, the marks were surprising, but not unpleasantly so.. xD

One thing that was funny is that Jansen got a comment which says "commits all kinds of errors".
Seriously, that was hilarious. He couldnt believe that the teacher actually wrote that on his paper, so it must have been really bad.. xD Saded.

Dialogues? Hmmm..

So i had this dialogue today with Minister in the Prime Minister's Office cum Secretary-General of the NTUC, Mr Lim Swee Say, after school today.

All i've got to say was that i've got the prime seat: It was less than 40cm away from the VP, 80cm from the P, and 100cm, and directly in front, of the Minister. As such, i cant help but say that i feel a little pressured. =.=

But at least he was easy to talk to, telling us about his life and Singapore, and answering our questions jovially during the session. One thing was sure about him; He has an interesting life. How often can you see a guy who studies in a chinese school, had sucky english (he said it himself), and yet managed to secure a scholarship to UK? And how many people out there actually knew that, when Lee Kuan Yew was Prime Minister (1960's), economic development was not the ultimate goal, but rather a stepping stone for social development?

Its true to say that this session was enriching. I would be lying to myself if i said otherwise. However, its a pity that i had to struggle to stifle a few yawns and had to suppress that overwhelming urge of wanting to stretch my legs and neck during that 1.5 hour long dialogue (remember where i was sitting..). Nevertheless, it was an interesting session, and i really do not mind attending another one next year. After all, how often do you get to sit right smack in front of a minister and get to talk to him?

Argh! Tongue!!

Throughly enjoyed myself today, thanks to r4 ppl. 4r4'08 still rocks more than 09s303. Opps, haha. xD

Transformers was totally cool. But too bad its science fiction. Like, you see Autobots after you die? And you have this freakishly sexy female robot seducing you so that she can dig out the info stuck in your brain. Wth. =.=

Lunch with Zu An was the best. He told kelvin that the seats on the other side of the table were taken when in fact, they were not, so in the end he had to sit beside manda. I think i was the only person who saw the face she made when she saw kelvin at the seat beside her. I felt a little guilty for playing along after that. lols. Sorry manda. hahas

I nvr really enjoyed playing pool till today. Teck li you watch out, i go train already then i'll start owning you. Then i'll take the pool stick and poke your nose back as well. =.= Kelvin was the ultimate; He kept missing the ball. And when he saw me and teck li playing on the chair, he give this wise saying of "you laugh, i fall". And laughed we did, for some 2 minutes or so.

Went home with weilin after that. And hearing wad she said about her sch, i suddenly feel rather fortunate.

In all, today wasnt too bad great. 4r4'08 rocks. =D

P.S.
I experienced the slowest queue ever today. It was 35-40minutes long, and it was for 2 pairs of movie tickets. The speed of the queue was 0.023km/hr.

P.S.S.
School starts again tmr. Promos are less than 3 months away. And within that 3 months, we have to get from U to E/D. Sianzxzxz =.=

Edit: I am starting to feel really, really, bored. I think i'll go watch tv. =.=

Something to rejoice for

Well, i have realised that some of my recent posts are rather emo. So, in conjunction with this 4 day post-exam holiday, i shall say something jolly. Something like "WHOO~ EXAMS ARE OVER!!!!~~~ MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA."

Lols. Ok. I am gonna meet some r4 ppl for Transformers tmr. Cant wait.. None of my JC classmates can be compared to crappers like zuan, tty and jon. They are good. And besides, having a boy population of only 6 in the class doesnt really help.

I miss the fun is secondary school. In secondary school, you have a life. In JC, having a life is defined as having time to go onto Facebook at 11pm (after you have finished your tutorials).

Omg, this post is getting emo. Ok, change of topic.

Let's see..
Ok, i have no idea wad should i talk about. Perhaps i shall compile a To-Watch list for all the movies i wanna watch.
1) Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. (watching tmr)
2) Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
3) Up
4) Public Enemies
5) Year 1
6) G-force
7) GI Joe

But then again, i'll be lucky if i have time to watch the next three movies.. o.0

Let myself down

This mid year paper will only reward those who have really studied for it.

Sad to say, it looks like i wont be rewarded, even though i did study hard for it. It is surprising, that i feel perfectly at ease when i am doing my math paper, which supposedly was my worst subject, and yet lose my head and panick during my chem paper, which supposedly was my best.

My brain chose to lose control at the wrong time. It had cost me. I will have to make sure that this doesnt happen in the subsequent exams. Flunking this chem paper shall be a lesson learnt. =.=

Curiosity killed the cat,
Incoherence killed the student.
