If my life gets screwed up and my heart breaks, I won't have anyone to blame but myself.

Saturday, August 14, 2010

Have you ever had so much responsibilities piled up on you, you feel like suffocating?

Have you ever wanted so damn badly for everything to disappear, so you can take a breather?

Have you ever just want to just give up, because the sheer number of things you have to finish is just too much, and there's too little time?

Have you ever wanted to just let it all go?

I have. And wish i could just disappear just so i can not do anything anymore. Seriously, just leave me alone.

Lost in the air

Someone take the sidestick away from me, before i crash the plane that is my Life..

I think i seriously need some sound advice..

I've got the power..

I am proud to say that i have (sort of) created a miracle by catching up on nearly a month's worth of work in 48 hours. From now on, i shall make sure that i never have to do this kind of catching up ever again. Its not fun at all, i tell you. Makes your brain feel totally dead. =.=

Now, its time for me to start writing my own SGC. Have a good night..

I wish time with you can pass more slowly..

I was so busy over cca in the past few weeks, i am now almost a month behind in my math and 2 weeks in my chem. How sad is that? Nonetheless, i aim to clear everything by this weekend, including my revision for chem and bio SPA, as well as to start on writing my own testimonial.

Watch me create a miracle.

P.S. Singing and attempts in harmonising in E1-5 when revising work was quite enjoyable.

Edit: i realised that it has been exactly one month since i last posted something here.. o.0

Saturday, February 27, 2010

Well, today sure was one of the more interesting days of the year.
Had to wake up at 5.30 to report to Jurong East to do CIP for Red Cross (Photos of flag day. Yeah, they wanted press coverage, so they asked us.. Press coverage leh..)

Actually, half the day went by with me only taking around 5 photos thanks to my (wrongly chosen) lenses: 50mm prime and 10-22 ultra wide angle. I mean, if you wanna take shots of ppl outdoors, you better have at least a short range telephoto lens ready. 3 quarters of the people ran away before i got close enough to get a decent photo. And if you add in the distortion caused by the 10-22, photos=rubbish.

I actually got mistaken for a stalker by 2 women at Chinatown when i was following this bunch of girls around. I mean, wth man, i don't stalk. And anyway, wad kind of a stalker uses a wide angle to stalk? A mid to long range telephoto would be more appropriate. =.=

The cool bit of the day happened when Edmund Chen came around and helped out for like 40mins or so. For that period of time, i felt like a reporter. In the end, i decided that perhaps photojournalism isnt as bad as i initially  thought it would be.

Ohoh, when the whole thing ended, i went to join the bowling ppl (who were coincidentally helping out RC as well) at plaza sing. While slacking around and complaining about aching foots, this bunch of ppl from HPB came over and asked us to play a game of tin can soccer as part of an awareness program to make ppl keep fit in creative ways. Yup, we're asked to play with a crushed tin can in the middle of the town area with a whole bunch of onlookers in school uniform. Wad made us gave in was the offer of a pair of free movie tickets for each person that played.
That made jessie go: EH! Got free movie ticket leh! PLAY LEH!
While the rest of us was like: lolwut.. o.0

In the end, we did get our free movie tickets, and everyone went back happy. The end.
Sorry if this post sounds disjointed. My legs are dead form walking around with a heavy bag for 12 hours, and so is my brain, from waking up at 5.30am on a weekend.

P.S. I've got a pair of free movie tickets. Any takers? My treat. xD

Ragh, i'll upload the pictures next time..

Afternoon: Eat lunch, mug
Night:  Eat dinner, rest for 5 mins, mug, wash up, sleep] x200 days

Welcome to JC2.

Freshmen's Odyssey 2010

Admin day 2 was.. tiring.
Dancing for 4 hours, cheering your voice away and trying to make yourself heard over all the din the other groups were making does that to you.

Words like "fun" and "enjoyable" are understatements. "Ecstatic" and "high" dun really fit the bill either. Looks like words cant describe how it feels to be an OGL. To my juniors: go experience it yourself. You won't regret it.

Alright, i can't help but end off with a quote. Somehow, it has become a habit.
Cute < pretty < beautiful. You are beautiful.

Alright, bye. Looking forward to Orientation day 1

P.S.
Crazy, i was crazy once.
They put me in a hole,
I died there.
Then the worms came.
Worms, i hate worms.
They drive me crazy.
(repeat X infinity)

That is something that's gonna happen real soon.. =.=

P.S. There seem to be quite a number of ppl putting up new posts today. Bless Friday nights and the weekends. =D

Bird Park and Happy Birthday.

Went for CIP at Jurong Bird Park today. Yeah, all the way at Boon Lay whilst i reside in Tampines. Consequence: Waking up at 7am plus 2 hours travel time. Not fun, since i forgot to bring my headphones along for the journey. Yeah, the trip there was rather torturous.. o.0

The first thing i noticed when i entered the Bird Park was that its tiny. The map looks all big and roomy alright, but when you step in, you dun even need 10 mins to walk to the other corner of that place. Now that's one thing which i havent remembered from my past visits to JBP. So is it me, or has the whole JBP shrunk?

Next thing which i noticed was that the mosquitos there arent very nimble. At home, you sometimes get those mosquitos which fly around so freaking fast that you cant even see them properly, let alone smack them. But down there, they dun even attempt to fly away when you smack them. In the end, i took around 5 lives in 2 hours. I feel like a serial killer. =.=

Oh, and you wouldnt believe the last interesting thing: Zhong Ming and Yiting actually pangsehed us and eloped for around 20 mins. Lols.

Anyway after that, some of us went off early to Jurong Point to get a cake to surprise Andik for her 18th birthday. We got this really cool cake which was DIY-ed, and it was really pretty. Good job to whoever decorated it. =D

While decoration was in process, i had to go off to mislead andik to buy some time. Got them to walk around the whole of Jurong Point, literally, and even managed to get ourselves lost (literally as well, since that place is like vivo, only worse). =.= I think i'm good since she didnt suspect a thing. xD I now hire myself out for a rate of $5/min for distraction purposes. I can even do it over the phone (remember cookies, gillian? hahas), so do give a call. =D

After everything, my legs are now aching like hell. I blame the walk at Jurong Point. Hahas. xD

Photography takeaways for today:
1) Never let Jansen touch your DSLR. You'll end up having lots of pictures to delete after that.
2) Never trust Av mode. It simply cannot make it. You'll end up having screwed up exposures and sometimes, weird depth of field in your photos if you dun watch your settings carefully. Manual FTW.

So i dun have to think

So we had a studio shoot for prom night 2009, Viva La Glam, yesterday. It was chaotic, but fun at the same time as well. Chaotic, because it was just plain squeezy for ten or sometimes, twenty people to look at the photos at a single viewing station. Fun, because i got to learn a lot about studio such as how to arrange people and wad poses couples can adopt.

The only downside is, we had to pack up somewhere past 12.30am (even the SCs were gone), and reached home around 1.40am. What's worse: Waking up at 7am to go for a Chemistry course at NUS. =.=

And speaking of which, makes my blood boil. To quote Weiliang:
Its not worth the two hundred and seventy six dollars.

And i quite agree.

To make it worth the money (or at least, feel better about it), we were quite liberal with the reactants and materials. Either way, one thing that we're satisfied with is the price of the food. It was just freaking CHEAP. Even the vending machines were charging below a dollar. Think $1.60 for a small packet of snack at MJC.
With that amount of money, you can get a plate of rice with 3 dishes there. Oh well, i think i'll get fat when i go U, with the cheap food and everything. =.=

We're tied together with a smile, and yeah, we're coming undone.

30km

Cycling 30km in 9 hours is no joke. Going by the tough way (lots of bumps and dips) does not help.

Route (start time: 9am):
Cycle from Tampines to Pasir Ris with a detour to Downtown East using the Tampines Park Connector. [2km]
Switching to the Loyang Park Connector, we cycled from Pasir Ris to Changi Village. [4km]
After breakfast (goreng pisang and coconut juice), set off for East Coast via some-park-connector-which-i-forgot-the-name, and passing by Changi Airport. CJ wanted to take a video of a plane taking off. I told him that it was a stupid idea. [5-6km]
Reached East Coast at around 1pm, and cycled from one end to another. [4km]
Turned around and went back to Changi using the same route (dying already). [9-10km]
Had tea, which was supposed to be lunch (Bread + goreng pisang + lime juice), at Changi at 4pm.
Cycled back to Tampines using that ultra high difficulty route via Changi Prison. You wouldnt believe the condition of the pavements there. The roots of trees have completely wrecked them, and it was uphill 70% of the time. We nearly had to stop at every bus stop to catch a breather before carrying on.
Reached Tampines at around 6. End of journey, but not end of the day.

Slacked a bit around Si yuan's house while deciding whr to go for dinner when si yuan came down from his block. Finally, went for dinner at 7, at the coffee shop near my house. Then went to the street soccer court to watch them play soccer, but got dragged into the game reluctantly. Played 2 games despite my conscience, which was screaming for me to go home and get a break and file in all my notes. Reached home at around 8.

The End.

P.S.
My butt is aching like nuts (try sitting on a bike for 9 hours), and my body has 2 colours, red and white. I know i said i wanted a tan, but i wasnt really expecting an unequal one. =.=

P.P.S
My brother said "O.M.G." in his sleep yesterday. He is 5 years old. I was totally amused. Lol.

Paradoxical

So, the Project Work theme i am doing is Emergency, and the subject is Sleep Deprivation.

I have researched, typed, and slogged out this Preliminary Idea on the effects of sleep deprivation and also how people suffer from it.

But the thing is, I am starting to suffer from it due to the heavy workload (one of the reason as to why modern people suffer from sleep deprivation) myself. So maybe its time for me to at least get enough rest before i write a report about it. After all, there is absolutely no reason for me to contribute to the rising trends of sleep deprivation in Singapore, and also worldwide.

Leading the leaders

Ok.. So i am back from the LEAD for leaders camp. Not bad.

Like the planning committee said: they couldn't have done it without us.
I totally agree. Without the '08 graduates, they would only have 6 people doing everything, and of which 2 cannot be facilitators because they simply have too much to handle already. And if that happens, there would only 4 facilitators to close to 60 participants. Thats a lot. =x

Well, i met plenty of nice people in addition to the handful of monkeys.. And i must say that i particularly enjoyed this facilitation. Enjoy it, not because the participants are like super high (yeah you ming.. you can stop cheering already, the camp's over.. xD), but because of the feedback they have given, showing that all the hard work hadnt been in vain.

I do not know why, but one unsual aspect which appealed to me the most in this camp was the debriefing sessions which the participants, and also that with the planning committee. I usually keep my feelings personal, but the debrief sessions with the PC has managed to squeeze them out of me. And i cant say that i didnt enjoy it.. It feels kinda nice to say so much "thank you's" and to contribute for the smoother running of the camp.

But on a lighter note, staying up in school till nearly 2am and showering under ice-cold water at 1am in the morning was fun. Sleeping for a max of 4 hours and but yet waking up completely refreshed was pretty cool as well. The best part was that i got to run around the school in the dark. Haha to those participants, who have to stay in bed sleeping bag. That's another reason as to why being a camp facilitator is so fun. =D

Ok, i think i got the Andrew Disease.. I just lost my train of thoughts..

What i really want to say is.. according to the first-aid book, a blanket is the cure for all ailments ranging from burns to heart attacks to having a pencil stuck into your head through the ear to a severed limb. Oh, and you have to smile when you are using the blanket. But believing it or not is up to you la. xD

Ok, thats all for the camp, since i cant remember wad else i wanna say (curse the Andrew Disease). Nights.

P.S. If you cant understand the 2nd last paragraph, its totally ok.. Inside joke of the facilitators la. Even Andrew and Wei Liang doesnt know about it.. Hahas. xD

-------------
Edit
Ok, i've remembered wad i wanted to say:
Teck li is some crazy hygiene freako who keeps insisting on showering (for heaven's sake, we're in a camp), and takes around 10 mins to style his hair, although it looks completely the same after that. And that bugger didnt stay around for the last, and best, debrief. Zao home with the participants.. Wth? =.=
And Sun-tanning at the MOE Changi Coast Adventure Centre (MOECCAC) is fun. And looking as the participants brave taufik's evil concoction was just as cool.. xD
Someone said: i came to this camp not for the leadership position, but for the participants.
It kinda touched me. And i have to agree that it is our responsibility to groom the next gneration of leaders. Reminds me of the saying of the saying 前 人 种 树, 后 人 乘 凉. So i guess that its our job to groom the next bunch of potential leaders to ensure that the people behind us are able to reap the fruits of our labour..
Wow.. my brain is semi-dysfunctional at the moment, yet i am still able to say this much. This camp must have left quite an impression on me. I guess i'll remember it for a long time to come... Oh well, just as well anyway..
Ok, i really dun think i've left anything out anymore. Sorry if everything in the Edit sounds weird. I am just typing what is on my mind at that moment, since i am really really really tired. So do pardon me if there doesnt seem to be any link between the paragraphs..
Oh, and hi to belle anne, if you have managed to find my blog and read this very very long post of mine.. Hope you enjoyed the camp as much as i did..
Right. I guess that's that.. Once again, nights..

At last, but alas...

Yay! The horrible term has finally come to an end! =D
Okok, although the term was very short, it has really been a one-of-a-kind-experience for me. The people whom i have met, the things which i have done, the lessons which i have learnt. What a variety. What an experience. No wonder they say that JC would be one of the most enriching times of your life.

But really, the life in JC is highly competitive. There is always another person better than you, be it in terms of academic or non-academic. Its quite a humbling experience. But of course, that just makes me work harder, to strive to be an elite.

The one thing good about MJ is that the teachers all care. Regardless of whatever background we have, they just want us to work hard, and achieve. I have lost track of the number of times where they have showed us examples of people who have made it, to motivate us; and also of those who have failed, to ensure that we do not follow in their footsteps.

I think that the teacher who deserves a special mention here is Mr Wong C.C. I think i would be hard pressed to say that he isnt good at teaching. Firstly he is good at teaching. He has the passion, and patience, for it. Black humour would form the majority of his jokes. And although we are usually the victims at the end of the barrel, nobody really minds, because we would be too busy laughing at it. Just today, he bought us free sandwiches and drinks to ensure that we didnt feel too hungry during the make-up SPA. In addition, not that anyone of us minded, he actually apologised for making us stay back for SPA (SPA is actually supposed to be tmr, but since there isnt any school tmr..). But i am sure that everyone was happy to oblige with what he wants us to do. I definitely am.

So much about the enriching JC experience. Everyone at work, and play, at their best. One term has gone by, and the holidays are here. But alas, holidays are not what they are..

Its been a while since i typed this much. Took me around 1 hr.. Goodnight.. =)

Relief? I think not..

Ok, JC tutors are masochistic. The words "break" and "rest" aren't in their vocabulary at all, and they deprive their students of them as well. =.=

Agenda for the weekend 2 non-school days:
1) Study for Geog test
2) Do GP AQ
3) Complete Math Tutorial 4 from scratch
4) Learn Maclaurin's Series via IVLE
5) Finish Chinese compo
6) Revise for Chem
7) Revise for Bio
8) Revise for Math
9) GO TAKE A BREAK! =.=

Out of those 9 points, i think the first and last are important. I definitely would do (1), but i wonder if i have time for (9) after everything.. =.=

No wonder that those tutors keep saying that A levels stands for "advanced" levels instead of "average" levels. But then again, it would be too bad if it just stood for "average" levels, would it? lol

Thursday, July 17, 2008

hmm. Seems like there isnt much to blog about of late. Or maybe its just due to my lack of attention for the stuff which happens around me. Either way, there is still this one thing which sticks in my mind like a stalk of rose sticking out of a pile of dung (weird personification, i know. but i cant think of anything more vivid than this one. =X)

That is, the MT 'O' level listening exam. Initially, i thought that listening would be a piece of cake. I thought wrong. It really looks as if the MOE really want us to think more. Unlike the previous year papers, the answers arent straightforward. Most of them cannot be found in the passage itself. It need you to think! Warning to people taking O level MT listening next year: keep your ears peeled and mind ready to form conclusions about what you heard.

But i really want to slap myself for something careless. Damn bloody careless. Question 2's answer was supposed to be 'b', but i shaded 'a' instead. Realised that after i handed in the answer sheet. After i realised that, it was like "OH ****!! DIE!! @#^*%@#^%" =.=
Sian. One mark lost just like that. zzz

Had bio SPA today. Really interesting cos we're dealing with live specimens for the first time here. If you were wondering, the live specimens were catfish (no, not the big ones. We used the baby ones. Only 2-3cm long). The experiment was on respiration, so gotta place the fish in hydrogen carbonate solution and watch the solution turn yellow as it turned acidic from the carbon dioxide released by the fish. But the thing is, all the fish did was to stone. I mean, it literally stoned la. It just stayed there, not moving unless you shook the boiling tube slightly. If u didnt see the gills moving, you could've taken it for dead.

Lawton knocked over a test tube contaning a fish. I had to get KY to wake up (he was sleeping) to get the fish back into the solution cos lawton dun dare to touch it. In the end, KY used a pair of forceps to giap it back into the solution. And guess which part of the fish he giaped? It was the head. =.= After that, the fish had this red spot (of what i think is blood) under its head where there shouldn't be. I think its suffering from internal bleeding. =.= Poor fish.

Oh yeah, teck li ate some fish food. According to him, it tastes like chicken. Crazy. zzz. Maybe he is a fish by nature. =.=

Anything else? i dun think so. Ok then, i'll just end here.

Dead beat

Ok, thanks to the MJC soccer trials, i've got:
1) an injured pinky (left hand)
2) even more sprained thumb (right hand)
3) scraped knee (from all the diving around for the ball) (left leg)
4) sore feet (again, from all the diving) (both feet)
5) semi-sprained wrist (left hand)

Yup, thats about it. Got 20 days exactly to recover myself so that i can get injured again. lol. Hopefully i wont be knocked around as much on the 25th.

About the trials then. From NAS, we've got amalul, deon, tzuming, gordon, jinliang, teckli, me and leping. And no, leping isnt there to play, she's there for fun. I actually arrived at MJ nearly an hour before the trials start (hey, i didnt know how long the bus will take to reach right? so i leave home early lor).

Played a match with another team. Quite boring actually, cos i am the keeper and my team is the attacking one. Who wants to guess how many times i touched the ball? Go tag your answer, i might give u a prize if u get it right. lols. After the match, you wont believe how i was abused; I was to stand at the goalpost, and wait for the MJC team to shoot at me. I was given 2 seconds to get up after every ball i dived for. So i was like, fly in this direction, get hit by the ball, get up, fly in that direction, get hit by the ball, get up, fly in this direction, get hit by the ball again, and blah blah for i dunno how long.

Looks like MJC arent Singapore's champion JC soccer team for no reason. Their ball will literally knock the wind out of you if u catch it. So i mainly just block. Lucky junyan lent me his gloves. If not, i think my hands will drop off. That was a joke. Ok, forget it. I know its not funny. Even i dun find it funny. >.<

I think i will go and rest now. Allow my injuries to heal. So bye bye..
